Liverpoolis a city in North West England, with a population of 484,578. With its surrounding areas, it is the fifth-largest metropolitan area in the United Kingdom, with over 2.24 million people.
By the start of the 19th century, Liverpool was important trading centre, and the construction of major buildings reflected this wealth. The population continued to rise rapidly, especially during the 1840s. Liverpool and Manchester became the first cities to have an intercity rail link, and Britain’s first provincial airport, started operating in Liverpool from 1930.
Liverpool has been a centre of industrial innovation. Railways, transatlantic steamships, municipal trams, electric trains were all pioneered in Liverpool as modes of mass transit. The world’s first integrated sewer system was constructed in Liverpool. Today, Liverpool’s economy is dominated by service sector industries, both public and private. Majority of all employment in the city is in the public administration, education, health, banking, finance and insurance sectors.
Liverpool is most famous as the birthplace of The Beatles. The city is also home to the oldest surviving professional symphony orchestra in United Kingdom, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, which is based in the Philharmonic Hall. Liverpool has more galleries and national museums than any other city in the United Kingdom apart from London.
The city is also the home of two Premier League football clubs, Liverpool and Everton.
Liverpool Self-Storage: At A Glance
With such a large population living in Liverpool, moving in and out, there are numerous self-storages available. Choosing the one that suits your needs should not be a problem. City and its surrounding host six self-storages different in size with one of them located just near city centre. You can use storages for differently sized items: from books and clothes that overcrowd your home, to robust pieces of furniture that need to be laid aside while moving, as well as for short and long term storing of goods.
Does Liverpool student population affect self-storage prices?
Liverpool has three universities: the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Hope University, with student population of around 50,000.
Every year, students move in and out of dorm rooms. However, student budget is limited, and it often doesn’t allow moving furniture, books and other belongings all the way back home. Keeping things in local self-storage is more convenient, and many students as well as owners of self-storages know that. That is why in many places with large student population some storage facilities offer discounts specifically for students to help them afford a storage unit.
