About Bournemouth

Bournemouth is a coastal resort town on the south coast of England, with a population of 183,491 making it the largest settlement in Dorset. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole form the South East Dorset conurbation, which has a total population of over 465,000.

Town was founded in 1810 but it received a boost when it appeared in Augustus Granville’s 1841 book, The Spas of England. Arrival of the railway accelerated its growth and it became a recognized town in 1870.

Bournemouth’s location has made it a popular destination for tourists, attracting over five million visitors annually with its beaches and popular nightlife. The town is also a regional centre of business and financial sector.

Many cultural institutions such as BIC, Pavilion Theatre, O2 Academy, Russell-Cotes Museum and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are based in the city and have a well-known reputation throughout the United Kingdom.

Bournemouth is also famous for sports and has successful football club, rugby club, cricket club and rowing club.

Bournemouth Self-Storage: At a Glance

With such a large population living in Bournemouth and surrounding, moving in and out, there are numerous self-storage facilities available. Choosing the one that suits your needs should not be a problem. Town and its surrounding host four self-storage different in size with one of them located just near town center. You can use storages for differently sized items: from books and clothes that overcrowd your home, to robust pieces of furniture that need to be laid aside while moving, as well as for short and long term storing of goods.

Does Bournemouth student population affect self-storage prices?

Bournemouth has two universities: Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth, both of which are located across the boundary in neighboring Poole, with student population of 16,868.

Every year, students move in and out of dorm rooms. However, student budget is limited, and it often doesn’t allow moving furniture, books and other belongings all the way back home. Keeping things in local self-storage is more convenient, and many students as well as owners of self-storages know that. That is why in many places with large student population some storage facilities offer discounts specifically for students to help them afford a storage unit.
