Belfast is the capital city of Northern Ireland, located on the banks of the River Lagan, on the east coast of Ireland. It is the largest city in the state of Northern Ireland and second largest city on the island. It has a population of 333,871.
Belfast played a key role in the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, becoming the biggest linen producer in the world, earning it the nickname “Linenopolis”. It later also sustained a major aerospace and missiles industry.
Since the 21st century the city has undergone substantial economic and commercial growth. Today, Belfast remains a centre for industry, as well as the arts, higher education, business and law, and is the economic engine of Northern Ireland. Belfast is still a major port, with commercial and industrial docks along the Belfast Lough shoreline.
Many cultural institutions such as Ulster Orchestra – Northern Ireland’s only full-time symphony orchestra, Oh Yeah Music Centre, Traditional Irish bands and others are based in the city and some of them have a well-known reputation throughout the United Kingdom.
Belfast Self-Storage: At A Glance
With such a large population living in Belfast, moving in and out, there are numerous self-storages available. Choosing the one that suits your needs should not be a problem. City and its surrounding host two self-storages different in size with one of them located just near city centre. You can use storages for differently sized items: from books and clothes that overcrowd your home, to robust pieces of furniture that need to be laid aside while moving, as well as for short and long term storing of goods.
Does Belfast student population affect self-storage prices?
Every year, students move in and out of dorm rooms. However, student budget is limited, and it often doesn’t allow moving furniture, books and other belongings all the way back home. Keeping things in local self-storage is more convenient, and many students as well as owners of self-storages know that. That is why in many places with large student population some storage facilities offer discounts specifically for students to help them afford a storage unit.
